Monitoring Shaft Decommissioned

This is a monitoring shaft located in a dam to read the water levels of the reservoir. Considered obsolete, the owners wanted it decommissioned. To do so, polyurethane grout was injected into the pipe that fed the shaft. The polyurethane grout filled up the pipe and even migrated to the bottom of the shaft to seal off the water flow. The grout used was Hyperflex, a moisture active hydrophobic polyurethane that is NSF/CAN/ANSI 61 approved to contact with potable water. Hyperflex is manufactured by SealGuard, Inc. The grouting was done by Sub-Technical, Inc.
